Canine Handler - Human Remains (HR)

Course Overview

The ASDF Canine Handler Human Remains qualification assesses the ability of an HR search canine team (handler and canine) to locate deceased subjects in given areas within a prescribed time period, the ability of the handler to correctly read the behaviour of the canine, the ability of the canine to show a trained, recognisable change in behaviour when it detects a person, and the ability of the handler to formulate and execute a search plan.

Assessment

The Assessment in this qualification involves a variety of tasks during and after the formal training component. This includes workbook activities, practical tasks, presentations, reflections and project work.

Once the above Qualification have been achieved the handler is therefore permitted to undertake the Canine Assessment process.

Volume of Learning

The amount of training allocated to this certification is based on prior experience of each participant. Learners who have a lot of relevant experience may have the ability to complete the qualification in a shorter time frame. However, those new too SARR will often take a longer time frame to complete and will be supported by our dedicated mentors throughout their journey.
